An welcoming, inclusive community plays a major role
in the settlement and integration of newcomers.
To successfully settle and integrate,
new immigrants need access to economic opportunities,
as well as a sense of social and cultural comfort.
We assist the development of an inclusive community by providing support, facilitating communication and encouraging civic participation:
- Providing support to emerging communities/groups by offering space, resources, consultation and personnel as well as assistance with cultural, social and fund-raising activities so as to enable these groups to become viable and self-sufficient
- Providing opportunities for contact and networking for a variety of community groups and agencies as well as individuals
- Facilitating and supporting networking and collaboration/coalition between members of the immigrant, visible minority and refugee communities
- Facilitating conflict transformation between and within cultural communities
- Increasing public awareness of multi-culturalism, diversity, racism, power and privilege, and strategies to reduce conflict
- Facilitating cross-cultural community dialogue on conflict transformation
- Training that facilitates development of skills for immigrants, as well as for public, private and not for profit institutions and organizations
On-going training and consulting services are available in the areas of :
